My name is Jeanette Howard, I’m an independent midwife (lead maternity carer) working in Tauranga and the surrounding areas. I have been in Midwifery since 1987. I completed my degree in Human Biology and Health Sciences and a Teaching Certificate in the UK. I worked as a midwife in the UK for 15 years before coming to NZ in 2002.
When I arrived in NZ I worked in the Wairarapa for 2 years at a primary unit then became an LMC in 2004. I also did a brief spell at a tertiary unit in Auckland.
I am the mother of 2 teenage twin boys and I moved to Tauranga 7 years ago with my family.
My midwifery beliefs are that pregnancy and childbirth are a normal life event, and my job is to watch carefully for any signs of deviation from the norm and refer as appropriate to provide safe care to the woman, baby and family.
I provide:
-
Full antenatal care
-
Home/hospital birth
-
Postnatal care at home for up to 6 weeks
I provide care for both low and high risk pregnancies. I am more than happy to look after women who are over 40 or under 18, carrying a multiple pregnancy, have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, social issues, or otherwise complicated pregnancies.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Please feel free to call if you would like to meet and I wish you all the best on your journey to becoming a mother.
