Marie Woolsey
I am an LMC midwife working in Tauranga. I completed my training at Massey @Wellington in 2000 & since then have worked in a variety of settings including Primary, Secondary & Tertiary levels. Prior to this I was a Childbirth Educator for 12 years mainly working for Parents centre in the Kapiti/Wellington area.
I am the mother of 3 adult children, step mother to another 3 children & Nana ‘rie’ to 3 beautiful grandbabies.
I settled in Tauranga 8 years ago & worked in the hospital until December 2010 when I became a fulltime Lead Maternity Carer. My practise partner is Cara Kellett. We work closely with our Midwifery colleagues & refer to other Health professionals, as required, to ensure safe practice.
I enjoy my work immensely & derive a huge amount of satisfaction supporting women, their partners & family/whanau through their journey of Pregnancy, Childbirth & becoming parents. I consider myself lucky to be part of this journey. I consider that each woman is unique in her needs, culturally, physically, mentally, socially & adapt my practice to fit with each woman’s needs.
I believe that for most women Pregnancy & Childbirth is a normal life event. My job is to provide a safe environment for women to achieve this & if necessary help guide on the way. That guidance can be very simple through to very complicated depending upon each woman’s individual needs & desires.
In order to do this I work across the full scope of Midwifery Practice & thus, with my midwifery partner, am able to provide Continuity of Care for the women in my practice.
I provide
-
Full Antenatal care
-
Home Birth
-
Water Birth (at home & at hospital)
-

-

I have a strong interest in breastfeeding & supporting mothers with the changing dynamics a new baby brings to the family.
I welcome you to come & meet with me & would love to care for you on your journey.
